Guwahati Municipal Corporation officials inspected five more hospitals on Tuesday and fined three of them to the tune of Rs 70,000 for flouting biomedical waste management rules and other irregularities.
Dental Clinic was fined Rs 50,000, while EG Nursing Home and Midland Hospital were fined Rs 10,000 each for various irregularities.
The team on Monday fined two hospitals Rs 80,000 for “disposal of biomedical waste in general garbage collection dustbins”.
The GMC team has been checking safe disposal of biomedical waste by hospitals, nursing homes, clinics and laboratories after purportedly used personal protective equipment (PPE) were found in dustbins.
