Hotel staff in quarantine

A 45-year-old woman from Tripura, who tested positive for Covid-19 on Monday, had stayed there on March 16

At least 16 staff members of Sukhmani Hotel at Paltan Bazar here have been quarantined after it was found that a 45-year-old woman from Tripura, who tested positive for Covid-19 on Monday, had stayed there on March 16.

The woman came to Guwahati on March 15 and visited Kamakhya temple and had dinner at panda (temple worker) Nogen Sharma’s house. Sharma’s help has been facing some health issues and is under observation. Seven members of his family are also being screened.

The woman stayed in the hotel from March 16 to 18. The 16 staff are in quarantine at the hotel and 15 guests are also being screened. The administration has started sanitisation of the hotel. She visited Vishal Mega Mart in Paltan Bazar on March 17 and visitors on that particular date have been asked to report to the health department if they face any health issues.

Kamrup (metro) deputy commissioner Biswajit Pegu said all measures are being taken to prevent the spread of the virus. GMC joint commissioner Pulak Mahanta said all the areas near the Spanish Garden apartments, where a businessman tested positive, have been sanitised. The GMC was re-sanitising all areas in the city, he added.
