The Assam government has decided to conduct at least one lakh rapid test of Covid 19 in the state soon.
The government on Friday ordered one lakh test kits.
“Like in Delhi, the state government will conduct a rapid test on one lakh people in the state to gauge the situation of the pandemic. Though the rapid test results are not accurate it will surely give us an idea,” health minister Himanta Biswa Sarma said.
He said these tests would be conducted in areas from where the Covid-19 positive cases have emerged in the state. However, the government will have to wait for the delivery of the kits.
“Due to the shortage of availability of the kits, the delivery may take some time. But we have asked the Centre to consider our request,” he added. So far, some 2,736 samples were tested in the state.
On Friday, the state government also announced to provide financial help to those patients of cancer, kidney and heart and currently stranded outside the state.
“Many had gone out of the state for treatment but got stuck there due to the lockdown. The state government has decided to give them financial support. Do connect to us on 0361-2558955 and share their details,” Sarma added.
But Dispur has not specified the amount to be given.
