Thirteen more persons, including two children of the 138 Battalion of BSF’s Tripura unit, were found Covid-19 positive in Ambassa of Dhalai district on Monday, taking the total number of active cases in the state to 27.

The state nodal officer of Covid-19, Dr Deep Kumar Debbarma, said, “We have shifted them to a quarantine facility and they are from the same BSF camp where 14 BSF jawans earlier tested positive.”

Reports said 128 persons are under quarantine centres across the state, along with 572 persons under home quarantine, with 5,394 people tested since March. BSF jawans of 47 Battalion under frontier headquarters, BSF Guwahati, conducted an awareness programme in the border villages of Palkarhar, Gadupata and village Baragari under Sahebganj police station and Cooch Behar of Bengal.

State law minister Ratan Lal Nath on Monday said Dhalai district of the state was identified as a red zone and three locations in the district were identified as containment zones after the BSF jawans tested Covid-19 positive.

Addressing a news conference on Monday, Nath said, “The district magistrate of Dhalai district has marked BSF headquarters at Jawharnagar and a 3km radius around it, BSF base at Gandacherra and Kareena border outpost as containment zones. The district was also marked as a red zone after 14 BSF jawans tested positive.”

Nath also said 331 contacts of the 14 Covid-19 patients have been identified so far.

However, Nath claimed that community transmission hasn’t occurred and the Gomati and North districts, which were earlier under the orange zone are likely to come under green zone.
