Restrictions will continue to be in place in Meghalaya, especially in the state capital, for the next one week.
While inter-state and inter-district movement is still prohibited in all districts, operation of major markets, educational institutions, cinemas, hotel and hospitality services will continue to remain closed, especially in areas falling under the Shillong agglomeration.
In an order issued on Sunday, East Khasi Hills district magistrate Matsiewdor War Nongbri also imposed night curfew from 7pm to 6am from Monday till May 25.
Operation of all shops dealing in non-essential items, restaurants, cafes, food outlets, tea stalls, except for home delivery and takeaways, will remain shut in the Shillong agglomeration area.
Public and private transportation, except public transportation, which has been permitted, will also continue to remain suspended.
In areas outside the Shillong agglomeration, 50 per cent of private and public transportation will operate following the odd-even system.
However, opening of selected retail and wholesale shops, including wine stores, will be allowed on specific days.
Works under national rural job scheme, agricultural and allied activities, food processing units, cement plants, industrial units, brick kilns, mining, stone quarrying will continue to operate, but workers have to adhere to social distancing protocols and health advisories.
Stranded citizens: On Sunday, at least 163 citizens from Meghalaya returned to the state from Gujarat via Guwahati railway station, chief minister Conrad K. Sangma said.
The government has also informed that out of 873 returnees from Tamil Nadu, 12 tested positive by using the rapid diagnostic test kits.
They include seven from East Khasi Hills, four from Tura and one from Ri Bhoi district.
Immediately, they were taken to the quarantine centres in their respective districts and their samples were collected and sent for PCR test at NEIGRIHMS and Tura civil hospital.
The PCR test results cleared all four from Tura and one from Ri Bhoi, and they all tested negative for Covid-19.
However, the test results of the seven individuals from East Khasi Hills were still awaited till the filing of this report.
