Nagaon police, responding to a Tweet on Sunday, came to the rescue of an aged couple in Nagaon’s Juria.
The couple’s son, Anupam Kakati, who is said to live in Bengal, posted on his Twitter account that there was an urgent need of some medicines for his parents who live alone in Nagaon’s Juria.
He tagged the Nagaon and Assam police’s Twitter handles.
Gaurav Abhijit Dilip, the superintendent of police, Nagaon, said immediately after they received that tweet, they acted swiftly and assured that the medicines were deployed on time.
The medicines were delivered by assistant superintendent of police Saurabh Gupta personally within an hour.
Apart from this, the police also ensured that two youths from Nagaon’s Christian Patty who were stranded here reached their homes safely on Sunday.
Both the youths, who came for a project on March 24, were stuck in Guwahati since the lockdown was imposed.
On Saturday night, one of the youth’s brother had a panic and anxiety attack and they had to leave for Nagaon urgently.
They contacted the Nagaon superintendent of police to ask if they could travel to Nagaon immediately.
The superintendent of police then advised them to inform the local police station here about their travel to maintain the protocol.
On Sunday, Dispur police allowed them to travel by road.
Gaurav Abhijit Dilip said the police will ensure that the youths reach their homes safely as it was the responsibility of the police to ensure that no citizen faces any trouble.

I sent a message to Helping Hand with details and my parents received the same after a few hours.”
