Chaygaon MLA gives food items to women

During the ongoing countrywide third phase of lockdown to prevent spread of Covid-19, Chaygaon MLA Rekibuddin Ahmed on Monday visited an old-age home at Bamunigaon under his constituency.

The home is run by the state social welfare department.

Ahmed spoke to 26 women who stay there and distributed fruits, biscuits, bread, milk and juice. He also gave them hand sanitisers and masks.

After that the MLA visited a children’s observation home which too is run by the social welfare department and distributed the same items among the children.

He was received by Kalyani Baruah, the superintendent of the old-age home and the observation home.

Ahmed also visited Mahatma Gandhi Model Hospital in Bamunigaon which has been turned into a 19-bed quarantine centre for Covid-19 patients. He distributed the food items among all staff of the hospital in the presence of its superintendent Someswar Das.

At the Chaygaon primary health centre in Gobordhan village, he distributed fruits, biscuits, bread, milk, juice among all staff. Ahmed handed over a cheque for Rs 10,000 to Dhiraj Das, president of the Chaygaon Press Club and its secretary Bhagawan Das for the welfare of journalists.

Ahmed said he would distribute food items and other essentials as a precautionary step against outbreak of coronavirus to the staff of Goroimari revenue circle, police outpost, Goroimari Press Club and Goroimari primary hospital.

He said he would do whatever is possible for the people of Chaygaon constituency and added that he would help every needy person during the lockdown.

He thanked health and finance minister Himanta Biswa Sharma and all medical staff who are fighting against the Covid 19 pandemic.
