As the people of Assam remained home during Bihu owing to the ongoing country-wide lockdown, many artistes took to social media to entertain them.

Hosting live performances on Facebook, Instagram and YouTube, the artistes performed their popular songs so that their audience could at least get a taste of their songs.

Singer Angraag Mahanta aka Papon has also launched a three-day special online concert.

Papon, who was at home this time after five years, said he missed the festival very much and decided to entertain people by singing Assamese songs online.

Thursday will be the last day of his three-day concert, available on Facebook, Instagram and YouTube from 6.30pm.

“As the people of Assam and all the Assamese around the globe could not step out to celebrate, I thought why not keep up with the celebrations by using the digital medium? This live concert is dedicated to the festival, to spread positivity and bring people together virtually. I am really excited and happy to be curating these sessions,” he said.

On Tuesday, the first day of the session, Papon, with his guitar in hands, entertained people for two hours, singing his popular songs. People from different parts of the globe kept requesting the singer to perform their favourite songs.

Amid the songs he kept responding to the audience both in Assamese and English.

Jina Rajkumar Goswami, one of the popular faces on Bihu stages, also went live on Facebook.

Decked in traditional attire, the performer sang a number of Bihu songs and played traditional instruments like pepa and dutora for her audience.

Prashanna Gogoi, a veteran pepa player, also hosted a live performance on the first day of Bihu where he performed pepa, bin (a string instrument) and dhol.

“I appeal to the people to remain at home during the lockdown period so that we can defeat coronavirus,” he said.
