Two Shramik Special trains will reach Tripura and Manipur in two days with stranded migrants and other people amid the Covid-19 crisis.
Both the trains will cross Barak Valley in south Assam on their way.
NF Railway sources said the Shramik Special Train to Tripura from Bangalore will start at 5pm on Sunday and reach Agartala on May 13 at 9am.
The Shramik Special Train to Manipur will start from Chennai at 11.55pm and reach Jiribam on May 13 at 9am.
There will be 1,200 people each in both the trains.
This is for the first time during the lockdown that trains from outside the Northeast will enter the region.
The trains will run from point to point.
The state governments will keep the travellers in quarantine after medical check-up as these trains run at the state governments’ request, sources said.
Altogether 21 such trains, starting on May 1, have ferried 25,000 stranded people to their native places.
