A group of 12 migrant toymakers (six from Saharasha and rest from Khagaria districts of Bihar) have ben stuck here for over two months now in a rented house, with little money and rising panic.
They are makers of the traditional dugdugi for children which is found during the Ashokastami Mela held every year in Dhubri town on the occasion of Ram Navami.
All 12 are staying in the house of Dev Kumar, a local resident of Mahamaya Lane of ward 10 of Dhubri town.
The group, including five children and seven adults arrived here in the first week of March to sell their handmade products during the Ashokastami Mela scheduled to be held from April 1. But the nation went into lockdown on March 24 midnight.
Mohamamd Amim, 51, from Saharsha said the local Hindu families were providing them with meals since the first day of the lockdown. “But we want to go back home.”
They have appealed to the Dhubri administration and the Bihar government to make the arrangements.
