The department directed all administrators of urban bodies to stay vigilant

Nagaland’s urban development department on Friday issued a 13-point advisory to urban local bodies on the coronavirus outbreak and asked them to submit an action-taken report by Wednesday.

The department directed all urban local bodies to ensure utmost cleanliness and hygiene in all the schools, public and departmental transport systems. It said cleanliness and hygiene must be maintained in all public toilets and amenities. It asked the urban local bodies to ensure that all restaurants, hotels and eateries maintain hygiene.

The department directed that no wild and live animals will be sold in the market. It said fish, poultry and meat will be sold only at the designated shops/locations duly authorised by the respective urban local bodies.

The department has banned random butchers and meat shops and discouraged rearing of pigs and poultry in close proximity to humans in urban areas.

It asked the urban local bodies to ensure that all the wards maintain proper sanitation within their jurisdiction and prohibit random disposal of garbage.

It directed that the sanitary workers and sweepers of each urban local body should be properly sensitised and should use protective gears and safety measures compulsorily.

The department asked the urban local bodies to conduct fogging and sanitise vulnerable areas in coordination with the health and family welfare department.

The urban bodies were also directed to set up helplines for the public in all the wards in coordination with the health and family welfare department. The department directed all administrators of urban bodies to stay vigilant.

Home department notice: The state home department on Friday issued a directive to all the deputy commissioners to ensure adherence to preventive measures for controlling the spread of Covid-19.

The directive said people should compulsorily use masks and hand sanitizers in all the public places.

It said people like salesmen/shopkeepers who usually come in contact with a large number of people must wear masks.

All establishments must keep hand sanitizers for both personal and public use.

The government asked all the deputy commissioners to take immediate steps to activate and widely publicise a phone line and contact number to receive reports and complaints from public.

Dimapur chief medical officer Dr T. Pangjung Sangtam on Friday said according to standard operation procedure and laid down guidelines, no private hospitals, nursing homes/clinics will collect specimen sample of coronavirus.

He said suspected cases are to be referred to RRT at Dimapur district hospital.

Sangtam said action will be taken against defaulters.
