The Opposition CPM of Tripura will begin a door-to-door campaign across the state from Monday to urge the people to rise against the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA), National Register of Citizens (NRC) and National Population Register (NPR).

Addressing a news conference on Sunday afternoon, CPM state committee secretary Gautam Das said, “The main purpose to implement CAA, NPR and NRC across the nation is to fulfil the agenda of the RSS and BJP to transform the country into a Hindutva Rashtra by driving out all the non-Hindu people, especially the people of minority communities, from our country.”

Das alleged that the BJP was trying to divide the Hindus and Muslims and tribals and non-tribals.

“The BJP is the one and only party supporting the CAA, NRC and NPR. Each political party across the country and student organisations are protesting against the unconstitutional law. We have to unite and protest against the BJP and RSS and against this anti-human law which will divide the people. The CAA, NPR and NRC will affect millions of poor people. From tomorrow we are going to start a door-to-door campaign and ask the people to protest against this law and not fall into the trap of BJP and RSS. This campaign will continue till March across the state,” Das alleged.

He said through this campaign they will explain the link between the NPR and the NRC.

Das also blamed the ruling BJP government for not fulfilling the promises it had made before coming to power.

“Law and order has totally collapsed in the state. People have no right to express their words, to raise their voices. Every day crime against women and violence is increasing,” Das alleged.

He also expressed dissatisfaction over the recent quadripartite agreement to settle the Bru displaced people in the state and claimed that the Centre had failed to protect their ancestral lands in Mizoram.
