Mizoram’s ruling and Opposition parties are on the same page when it comes to Manipur chief minister N. Biren Singh’s handling of the ongoing ethnic conflict in his state.
A day after the Opposition Mizo National Front (MNF) sought the resignation of Singh over his apparent inability to resolve the crisis that erupted over 18 months ago, Mizoram chief minister, Lalduhoma has described his Manipur counterpart as a “liability to the state of Manipur” and that President rule was “much more preferable” than the present Manipur government.
Lalduhoma shared his views on the ongoing conflict in Manipur and Biren Singh in an interview published in a national daily on Friday.
On Singh, Lalduhoma said: “I am sorry to say that he is a liability to the state of Manipur. He has been a liability to his own people and his party...If his service is still needed, in my opinion, it is a necessary evil. More evil and less necessary.”
