Rapido, a bike-taxi service here, is offering free rides to voters to their polling stations on Tuesday, the third phase of the Lok Sabha polls.

Rapido users will have to book a bike through the Rapido app and use the coupon code “IVOTE” while booking a ride. The offer will be applicable in Guwahati only.

“We are offering this service to each and every voter in the city so that they can reach their respective polling stations and cast their valuable votes. The offer will be active only during the voting hours on polling days,” Rapido city head Suman Acharjee said.

Rapido, the Bangalore-based organisation, has replaced the conventional four-wheeled taxis with bikes, providing commuters a faster and economical option to navigate traffic snarls and reach one’s destination on time.

Rapido was introduced in city in December last year and has recently started its venture in Shillong. There more than 1,100 active riders in the city.

Acharjee said, through this initiative they want to be a part of a healthy democracy by encouraging people to vote.

“I think we can encourage people in whatever way we can. I hope people will avail of this facility and vote,” he said.
