Former executive member (EM) of the BTC and Bodoland People’s Front (BPF) leader Doneswar Goyary on Sunday hit out at United People’s Party Liberal (UPPL) leader Prithviraj Narayan Dev Mech for his allegation of scam to the tune of Rs 1,000 crore in the panchayat and rural development department and the department of welfare for plain tribes and backward classes.
On Saturday, Mech alleged that former BTC chief Hagrama Mohilary, former executive members of the council Rajib Brahma and Goyary besides some contractors were involved in the scam.
Adding that his allegation was based on RTI documents, Mech had said BPF leaders and the contractors were afraid that their corruption would come out during the governor’s rule. “That is why out of frustration and tension Hagrama Mohilary says that he is still the unofficial chief of the BTC,” Mech added.
He was addressing a news conference at Kokrajhar on Saturday.
On Sunday, Goyary said: “There is not an iota of truth in Mech’s allegations. It is just an attempt to tarnish the image of the BPF after the expiry of the term of the council.”
The UPPL has advocated governor’s rule opposing the BPF’s request for extension of the term till the polls are held.
Denying their role in misappropriation of funds, Goyary called for an inquiry by the CBI or any other premier investigative agency and claimed that he is ready to face such an investigation and cooperate with the investigation agency.
Goyary labelled Mech a traitor of the Bodo community and said such persons of the community must be socially boycotted by the people as they are of no use.
On Saturday, Mech said legal action would be initiated against the corrupt persons.
