Pasighat MLA Kaling Moyong launched boating service on Siang river at Komalighat near Pasighat, East Siang district headquarters, on Saturday.
The service has been launched keeping in view the tourist season with the onset of winter in Arunachal Pradesh. The service, JJ Boating, has been initiated by local entrepreneur Nong Jamoh, 35. The service will be operational between 10am and 4pm daily.
The MLA, along with guests and visitors, took the inaugural boat ride on the river on Saturday morning.
“Nature has bestowed the Siang Valley with scenic beauty and splendour. Tourists, who visit the valley, also look forward to various outdoor experiences like boating, rafting and the like,” Moyong said.
He called upon local residents, especially youths, to take up and explore avenues in the tourism sector. He said various initiatives will be taken in this sector to create employment opportunities.
He said the focus of the state government, led by chief minister Pema Khandu, was to promote tourism across Arunachal Pradesh. The MLA urged the people to avail of various central and state government schemes in tourism.
Jamoh said, “Many foreign tourists visiting Pasighat ask for a tour of the riverine areas. But, except country boats, there was hardly any arrangement. So, I planned to launch the service.”
“I will continue the service to ferry passengers on both sides as many people like boating in summer too,” he added.
