The BJP-Indigenous Peoples Front of Tripura (IPFT) government will install the Aadhar-enabled biometric system in all government and government-aided schools across the state.

Tripura education minister Ratan Lal Nath told reporters at the civil secretariat on Saturday that the Aadhar-enabl.

“The BJP-IPFT state government, in a circular issued on December 14, 2018, had said that the Aadhar-enabled biometric system would be introduced in all departments and government offices, and, accordingly, it has been introduced in many places while it is yet to be introduce in some places,” Nath said.

He said the biometric system had been introduced to mark the attendance of employees, teachers and non-teaching staff in government offices and government-aided schools across Tripura for transparency.

“Recently, the state education department issued a circular and told us, as the department has no direct control over government-aided schools, in Tripura. The school education director asked the schools’ authorities to introduce Aadhar-enabled biometric system for attendance. This will also be introduced to check claims of funds for salary,” Nath said.

The biometric system has been installed in almost all the general degree and professional colleges and 21 government departments in the state.
