Dr B. Borooah Cancer Institute (BBCI) is celebrating International Women’s Day with month-long activities to boost women’s health. The institute has taken up cancer awareness generation and early detection programmes this month.
This month-long venture started with a daylong free cancer awareness and screening programme, along with a blood donation camp in association with Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) on the CISF campus, Kahikuchi.
Dr Amal Chandra Kataki, the director, BBCI, said, “Simple techniques can detect common cancers which can save lots of lives as early detection makes the cure easy. Breast cancer, cervical, ovarian and uterine cancer account for 70 per cent of cancer cases among women in India.”
