Assam Assembly Speaker Hitendra Nath Goswami (in picture above) on Thursday night said he would not comment on the Citizenship (Amendment) Bill. When his reaction was sought on the bill, he said it has come through a constitutional process but as a conscious citizen of Assam, he was against anything which goes against the indigenous people of the state. “I am not above my people,” he said, “and I feel the Centre should look into the sentiments of the people.”
