Assam players felicitated

Assam improved its medal tally from previous years, ranking 7th with 76 medals, comprising 20 gold, 22 silver and 34 bronze

Assam Down Town University on Wednesday felicitated winners of the 3rd Khelo India Youth Games.

Shivangi Sharma, the swimmer who won five gold and two silver medals, lawn bowl players Adinita Kakati, Kareena Patwary, Suranjana Baruah, Suman Kumari Pandey, Sanjyo Kumar Pandey, Raktim Kalita, Siyanchit Mahanta and Jinu Gogoi, and former player Bandita Hazarika, who won the first gold medal for Assam in lawn bowls, were also felicitated.

“An interactive session was also conducted between the winners and our students and the winners shared their experiences,” said a statement.

This year, Assam improved its medal tally from the previous years, ranking seventh, with 76 medals, comprising 20 gold, 22 silver and 34 bronze.

This edition of the KIYG was the biggest so far with more than 10,000 players and officials participating in the event. With two additional disciplines, cycling and lawn bowl, there were 20 disciplines.
