Assam chief minister Himanta Biswa Sarma said on Monday afternoon that the flood situation had worsened with major rivers flowing above the danger level, for which traffic on NH715 had to be restricted to prevent vehicles from hitting animals crossing the road in the flood-hit Kaziranga National Park.

He said relief operations had been initiated and ministers had been asked to visit the affected areas. A complete review will be done during the next cabinet meeting on Wednesday.

The cause of the deluge is the heavy rainfall in Arunachal Pradesh, which is also witnessing severe floods.
