Commission chairperson Sunita Changkakati said on Tuesday, “The e-box will run on Android and iOS devices. The purpose of the e-box is to empower citizens to take moral responsibility of protecting our future generation. The app can be used by anyone in the state to lodge a complaint, which will be directly sent to the commission.”

She said the application is the first of its kind in the Northeast and the second in the country. “This app will help the commission in tracking cases like mental and physical abuse, sexual violence, abandonment, forceful labour and corporal punishment,” Changkakoti said.

Highlighting the app features, Changkakati stressed that once cases are reported, the commission will disseminate the complaints to the nearest police station for immediate rescue of the victims and necessary action.

According to Changkakati, 129 cases of child rights violation were reported to the commission till November 11 this year.

Changkakati said the increase in number of reported cases was also because of the increased awareness in the society and constant highlighting of such cases in print, electronic and social media. “The number of registered cases are rising because people have become conscious enough to report such crimes. This app will strengthen the reporting of child rights violations, which will subsequently help the commission in giving justice to the victims,” she said.
