The second edition of Yi Amazing Race, presented by Mercedes-Benz and organised by Young Indians (Yi), Guwahati chapter, was flagged off on Sunday from Mercedes-Benz, Axom Motors at National Highway 37, Guwahati.
Amazing Race is a signature road safety initiative by the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) Yi Guwahati.
The race was flagged off by deputy commissioner, Kamrup (metro), Biswajit Pegu in the presence of actress Nishita Goswami.
Seventy-six teams from the Northeast took part in the race where they had 210 minutes to solve puzzles, find clues, use logic and prove the power of team work to perform tasks to pave their path to victory while following and promoting road safety rules all the way.
The race, sponsored by Mercedes Benz Axom Motors, was won by Team Elite comprising Sumit Sethi, Sanjeev Jain, Mukesh Sureka and Beejeet Prakash. They were awarded round-trip tickets for Bangkok.
Abhimanyu Khetawat, chair, Young Indians, Guwahati chapter, said: “This is the second edition of the Yi Amazing Race. Last year, it was a thrilling experience and we saw an even better response this time. The core objective of our programme being road safety, participating teams were briefed about road safety rules and they too made people aware about safety while on road. We created this road safety awareness through fun-enthralling events like this race which is a great way to engage the youngsters.”
Yi Amazing Race is a fun and thrilling event designed to get maximum engagement of Guwahati’s youngsters. The focus is on promoting road safety practices among city dwellers.
Young Indians (Yi) is an integral part of the CII formed in 2002 as a Pan-India platform for young Indians to realise the dream of a developed nation. Through its programmes and initiatives, it reaches out to millions of youths across the country through a network of 43 chapters with the clarion call “We Can, We Will”.
