Aid for Covid orphans

Under the scheme, the children will be provided with a monthly income scheme of Rs 3,500 per month

Assam chief minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Sunday provided financial assistance under the Chief Minister’s Sishu Seva Scheme (Phase-II) to eight orphans who lost their parents during the Covid-19 pandemic.

Under the scheme, the children will be provided with a monthly income scheme of Rs 3,500 per month, being the interest accrued on a fixed deposit of Rs. 7.67 lakh deposited in their respective names.

The scheme will continue till they attain the age of 24, when the principal amount will be deposited into their savings accounts.Rain warning The regional met office here on Sunday warned of heavy rainfall from Sunday to Thursday in the Northeast.

The region has witnessed several spells of heavy rainfall since May, leading to widespread flood and landslides.
