The Lower Subansiri district administration in Arunachal Pradesh has made it mandatory for a student to produce an immunisation card to get admission into government schools.

Additional deputy commissioner Nending Chatung said “the decision will improve the immunisation percentage of the district and ensure a pool of healthy children”.

Observing that various infrastructure and aesthetic gaps of health centres identified under Kayakalp scheme across the district have not been communicated to the district medical officer and deputy commissioner, Chatung suggested endorsing a copy of such information for early perusal with the government.

While reviewing the Intensified Pulse Polio Immunisation (IPPI) 2020 drive that was carried out in the district on January 19, Chatung congratulated the district health society for achieving 100 percent coverage.

Altogether 384 medical staff, Asha and Anganwadi workers covered 96 polio booths across the district.

District reproductive child health officer Dr Derin Likar said the sole motto of the drive was to ensure no child or pregnant woman was left out.

District medical officer Dr Tage Kanno and representatives from Apatani Women’s Association gave suggestions for improving the quality of health services in the district.
