9 patients recover in 2 days

Cured persons include two in East Khasi Hills and one each from North Garo Hills and West Garo Hills

Nine Covid-19 patients have recovered in Meghalaya in the last two days bringing down the number of active cases to 21.

The 21 active cases include eight in East Khasi Hills district, five in West Jaiñtia Hills, and four each in West Garo Hills and South West Garo Hills.

Chief minister Conrad K. Sangma said on his Twitter handle that the recovered patients include two in East Khasi Hills, and one each from North Garo Hills and West Garo Hills.

On Thursday, five persons were declared to have recovered from Covid-19.

The first positive case was detected on April 13, but the patient, who was a medical practitioner, passed away just two days later.

Health minister A.L. Hek had earlier said so far, 12,513 samples have been sent for testing, of which, 12,169 have turned out to be negative while the results of 300 samples were awaited.

The minister said till date, 15,058 stranded citizens from different parts of the country have returned to the state.

Cumulatively, till Friday, 36,713 home visits, including multiple visits, were done by health workers on those who have returned home.

Currently, there are 828 individuals who have been kept in institutional quarantine centres, while there are many who are undergoing quarantine either in community centres or in their respective residence.
