The Mizoram government has set up one more screening counter for coronavirus at Thingsai in Hnahthial district on the Mizoram-Myanmar border, an official of the state health department said on Sunday.
Thingsai is the entry and exit point of the free movement regime along the Indo-Myanmar border.
The official said screening for coronavirus began at Thingsai police check gate on Saturday.
So far, the Mizoram government has set up at least six screening counters to prevent the spread of the deadly coronavirus in the state.
The state government formed a task force committee to monitor screening of passengers along the state borders and international borders.
With Thingsai being the latest, the government has so far set up screening counters at Lengpui airport, Zokhawthar on the Mizoram-Myanmar border, Kawrpuichhuah on the India-Bangladesh border, Kanhmun along the Mizoram-Tripura border and Vairengte on the Mizoram-Assam border.
The state health department said no case of coronavirus has been detected in the state till date.
The deadly virus has killed more than 2,900 people and infected nearly 87,000 people worldwide as of Sunday.
The virus has now spread to at least 61 countries, sources said.
