Election to the Bodoland Territorial Council (BTC) is witnessing a four-cornered contest where the Pramod Boro-led United People’s Party Liberal (UPPL), BJP and the Gana Suraksha Party (GSP) are giving the ruling Bodoland People’s Front (BPF) a hard time.

A leader of the BJP, which is contesting in 25 seats, said, “The BJP is on the right track. We will either form the government or be a part of it.”

BPF candidate in Mwdwibari constituency, Jagadish Sarkar, said, “The BPF has the people’s mandate and we are confident of forming the government for the fourth consecutive term. The BPF under the leadership of Hagrama Mohilary has won the heart of every community.”

Abhijit Mazumdar of the Congress said, “If there is a fair election, we are confident that the Congress-AIUDF alliance will perform well.”

Political analyst Zakir Hussain said, “It is anticipated that Pramod Boro, who heads the UPPL and is immensely popular, will be able to form the government in alliance with the BJP. This time there is a strong anti-incumbency wave.”
