This Sunday is an extra funday because it’s Father’s Day. Starting the day with a warm hug and a wish and then taking your ol’ man to a sumptuous brunch or lunch, and then to a cinema hall for a back-to-back binge fest — now that’s a perfect plan! Wondering which films to watch? My Kolkata has three recommendations for you:
Inside Out 2: The second part of the animated film franchise is out. Directed by Kelsey Mann and screenplay by Meg LeFauve and Dave Holstein, Inside Out 2 deals with 13-year-old Riley’s encounter with anxiety — a new entrant in her Sense of Self team. The other members in her team are joy, anger, sadness, disgust and fear. Anxiety and a hello from puberty changes a lot in Riley’s life and her understanding of self. A movie with the lyrical quality of a child’s tale and a strong underlying message makes Inside Out 2 a joyful and meaningful watch. Watch the trailer here.
Chandu Champion: Written and directed by Kabir Khan and starring Kartik Aaryan, Chandu Champion is a biographical sports film based on the life of Murlikant Petkar — India’s first Paralympics gold medalist. Other than Kartik, Vijay Raaz, Rajpal Yadav, Shreyas Talpade, Sonali Kulkarni and other powerhouse actors are also a part of the film. Watch the trailer here.
The Watchers: A supernatural horror film, The Watchers has been written and directed by debutante Ishana Night Shyamalan, daughter of noted filmmaker M. Night Shyamalan. It is based on the novel by A. M. Shine, and the film stars Dakota Fanning, Olwen Fouere, Georgina Campbell and Oliver Finnegan and John Lynch in important roles. The story is about the relationship between humans and fairies — a tale of coexistence turning into a face off. Through Mina’s (Dakota) journey, a story unravels that was never heard of before. Watch the trailer for a glimpse and book your tickets now!
