Touted as ‘the beginning of the end’, there is much to unpack in the trailer of The Crown’s fifth season. While this season introduces a fresh batch of actors, including Imelda Staunton (Queen Elizabeth), Jonathan Pryce (Prince Philip), Jonny Lee Miller (John Major), Dominic West (Prince Charles) and Elizabeth Debicki (Princess Diana), the regal tone and top-notch production remain the same. The clip hints at the heightened conflict between Elizabeth, Charles and Diana, giving a glimpse of the broken marriage that shook Britain’s monarchy to its roots. Since this season focuses on the ’90s, a decade when a lot happened in and around the royal family, it will be interesting to see how Netflix handles the depiction of these sensitive issues, while keeping the drama intact. We’ll find out on November 9.
