Guess what Manoj Bajpayee, Piyush Mishra, Divya Seth Shah and Poornima Kharga have in common, apart from being incredible actors? All of them starred together in the 1991 theatrical storytelling piece, Suno Re Kissa. Prasar Bharati Archives recently gifted YouTube with a copy of the 25-minute clip, which features all these super talented actors from their early days. However, their craft seems just as glowing, showcasing the potential that they would go on to realise. Written by Piyush Mishra himself, the clip shows him playing the harmonium, while the actors around him dance in a romantic sequence. Bajpayee also looks unrecognisable in a blue T-shirt and jeans, with many netizens adding that the actor has aged extremely gracefully. If you’re interested in exploring the raw storytelling that powered Indian theatre, make sure to watch this piece!
Guess what Manoj Bajpayee, Piyush Mishra, Divya Seth Shah,
Lovleen Mishra and Poornima Kharga have in common, apart from being incredible
actors? All of them starred together in the nautanki-style storytelling piece Suno
Re Kissa back in 1991. Prasar Bharati Archives recently gifted YouTube with
a rare 25-minute clip, offering a nostalgic glimpse at these talents in their
early days. Their craft already shines with the potential they would later
fulfil on bigger stages.
Written by Piyush Mishra — an accomplished actor, singer,
lyricist, playwright, and musician — the clip, which
he shared on his Instagram, showcases him playing the harmonium, while the
actors dance through a vibrant romantic sequence. Among other familiar faces,
you’ll spot Lovleen Mishra — the chulbuli Chhutki
from Doordarshan’s Hum Log, recently seen in Paatal Lok and Kota
Factory — and Rituraj Singh, the actor seen in TV serials like Banegi
Apni Baat and films like Badrinath Ki Dulhania and Satyamev
Jayate, who passed away earlier this year.
In the lead role is Poornima Kharga, a National
Award-winning actress and Raghuvir Yadav’s former wife, with Divya Seth Shah — still
popular as Majhli from Hum Log, who also played Shahid Kapoor’s
mother in Jab We Met — bringing her own charm to the ensemble. And don’t
miss ‘The Family Man’ Bajpayee, nearly unrecognisable in his casual blue
T-shirt and jeans, as he delivers an early performance that hints at the actor
he would become.
For anyone interested in experiencing the raw storytelling
that fueled Indian theatre, Suno Re Kissa is a must-watch!
