Ever since the power-packed ensemble cast of Nag Ashwin’s Kalki 2898 AD has been
announced, audiences have been waiting with bated breath for the epic fantasy
drama’s release. After what felt like forever, the makers have finally shared
the film’s official trailer, and it is just the visual masterpiece we had
expected it to be!
Set within a dystopian Kashi in a post-apocalyptic
future, the film draws inspiration from the Hindu epic Mahabharata, chronicling
the return of Dronacharya's immortal son Ashwatthama (played by Amitabh
Bachchan), and his clash against Prabhas’ Bhairava. The name is a nod to
Vishnu’s tenth and final avatar, Kalki, who is expected to end all evil in
civilization and bring about the dawn of a new era.
The three-minute long clip comprises stunning
action sequences, packaged with slick VFX and powerful performances by the
central protagonists. The supporting cast is just as remarkable, with Kamal
Haasan, Deepika Padukone, Disha Patani and our very own Saswata Chatterjee
bringing their A game.
Set to premiere on June 27, this film deserves to
be watched on the biggest screen possible. Mark your calendars!
