What happens when a rich
and overprotected girl falls in love with a thief who comes to rob her house?
Does escape from a father’s tyranny also provide escape from reality? And how
long can a love built on deception flatter to deceive? Lukochuri,
premised on these questions, is directed by Shieladitya Moulik and stars Angana
Roy and debutant Rajdeep Deb
as the lead pair. A touching adaptation of Sairat, a 2016 Marathi
romantic tragedy, Lukochuri released in theatres on March 22.
Shot in just nine days, Lukochuri
is set entirely in the hills, which adds to the innocence and the intrigue
evoked by the plot. The cast also includes Shaheb Chattopadhyay, whose turn as
a possessive father and husband complements the effortless chemistry between
Angana and Rajdeep. Adding to the strengths of the film is its mellow music,
tinged with melancholy.
