If you think you’ve seen every Tilda Swinton film ever, we may have found a gem that most fans don't know about! Caprice (1986) is British filmmaker Joanna Hogg’s 26-minute graduation film and stars a then-unknown Tilda. The film is set within the pages of a fashion magazine and features whimsical editorial montages and surreal visuals. Tilda and Joanna first met at Kent’s West Heath boarding school (one of their classmates was reportedly Diana Spencer!).
When Joanna graduated from the National Film and Television School, she cast a newbie Tilda in her thesis film Caprice. 1986 was a big year for Tilda as it also saw the release of Derek Jarman’s Caravaggio, where she played Lena. It's often considered her breakout role. Caprice is currently streaming on Mubi India, so if you’re a Tilda Swinton fan, you know where to go!
