What do the Men in Blue have to say before their opening World T20 game against Ireland?
Rahul Dravid, Rohit Sharma and Suryakumar Yadav share their vision for the tournament

The wounds of November 19, 2023, haven’t yet healed, but the Indian Cricket Team are marching on to yet another tournament, with the hopes and dreams of over a billion people on their shoulders. As the Men in Blue gear up to take on Ireland in their opening game of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup tonight at the Nassau County International Cricket Stadium, the team shared their vision for the tournament with fans. Coach Rahul Dravid expressed his belief in the squad’s ability to win the tournament, lauding the team’s consistency in reaching the knockout stage of ICC tournaments. Captain Rohit Sharma, who has played in every edition of the T20 World Cup so far, referred to the pain of losing the last edition of the tournament, adding that the team’s focus was on learning from mistakes. Similarly, vice captain Hardik Pandya promised to play a brand of fearless cricket where the team would embrace every challenge. Explosive middle order batter Suryakumar Yadav also emphasised on the importance of everyone pitching in during crucial points, while fast bowler Arshdeep Singh spoke about how the younger crop is trying to keep the environment in the practice nets fun.
This year’s Indian T20 squad also has Virat Kohli, Yashasvi Jaiswal, Axar Patel, Ravindra Jadeja, Shivam Dube, Rishabh Pant, Sanju Samson, Jasprit Bumrah, Kuldeep Yadav, Mohammed Siraj and Yuzvendra Chahal. India will be packing significant firepower in its reserves too, with Shubman Gill, Rinku Singh, Khaleel Ahmed and Avesh Khan.
ICC Digital Insider Sanjana Ganesan also previewed Team India’s campaign, adding that the team would be playing three of its four games in The Big Apple. India is in Group A, clubbed with promising teams like Canada, Ireland, Pakistan and hosts USA.
