Privilege is a word that comprises multitudes. It is only fitting that Class, Netflix’s adaptation of Spanish series Elite, addresses a multitude of issues with class-barriers being the most pivotal one.
Showrunner Ashim Ahluwalia doesn’t tone down the ugly side of wealth and its impact on the wealthy, bringing forth important teenage conversations on sexuality, caste, income inequality and more through luxury cars and Instagram clout. The plot, while simplistic, is deeply engaging, courtesy an ensemble cast that is at the top of its game. The stylistic production manages to preserve the suave nature of luxury while retaining its condescension. So strap in for a seemingly breezy binge, which will leave you thinking after each episode!
