The past week has been huge, with trailers of massive projects dropping on YouTube. If you’re wondering what to watch, here are four awesome upcoming productions to add to your watchlist:
- ‘Sector 36’: Vikrant Massey and Deepak Dobriyal star in this Netflix crime-thriller film based on the 2006 Noida serial murders near Nithari. The trailer gives us a glimpse of the cat-and-mouse chase between a sinister suspect and a cop with a vendetta, offering a unique look into the mind of a serial killer. Don’t forget to stream it on September 13.
- ‘Will & Harper’: The second Netflix title on the list, this documentary is poles apart from the previous entry. Movie star Will Ferrell and his writer-best friend Harper Steele take a road trip down nostalgia, tracing the evolution of their friendship from their first meeting at Saturday Night Live, to Steele’s eventual decision to undergo a gender transition. The trailer promises a heartwarming story of compassion, friendship and empathy. It releases on September 27.
- ‘The Last of the Sea Women’: This Apple TV+ documentary marks the debut of Malala Yousafzai as a producer, partnering with A24 to tell the remarkable story of the Haenyeo, the sea women in South Korea’s Jeju Island. The trailer shows us how the grandmother warriors fight against impending oceanic threats in order to preserve nature. Prepare to have your mind blown when it premieres on October 11.
- ‘Wicked’: Ariana Grande and Cynthia Erivo promise a fantastical tale that builds upon the legacy of The Wonderful Wizard of Oz in this film, slated for a November release. Wicked is the first in a two-part adaptation of the stage musical of the same name, chronicling the friendship between Elphaba and Galinda, two women who couldn’t be more different, but are bound by a deep mystical connection.
