If you aren’t at Salt Lake Stadium tonight at 7pm, make sure you are sitting in front of a screen — because Sunil Chhetri will play for the Blue Tigers one last time as India take on Kuwait in their FIFA World Cup Qualifier group game. Catch the action live on Jio Cinema and Sports18 to honour one of Indian football’s biggest legends. Chhetri announced his retirement via Instagram last month and is all set to go out on a high if India can win to make it into the next stage of the World Cup Qualifiers.
Debuting for the Blue Tigers back in 2005, Chhetri will don the Indian Blue for the 151st and final time with his national goal tally currently at 94. We all want to see one final goal from the No.11, so, as he takes to the field for the final time, tune into the action and witness this legendary player draw curtains on a marvellous career. Chhetri took to Instagram with a picture of him overlooking his final battleground with the caption “Alright, then.” My Kolkata would like to congratulate the Indian skipper on a glorious career and wish him well for the future.
