In the backdrop of the 1971 Indo-Pak war, tensions were especially high in Punjab. Directed by Abhishek Saxena and produced by Arbaaz Khan, Bandaa Singh Chaudhary, explores the story of one man caught amidst the escalating tempers of this time.
The film’s trailer opens with a standard love story, as Bandaa, played by Arshad Warsi, romances Meher Vij on a motorcycle against the lush green countryside of rural Punjab in 1975. However, the rosy atmosphere quickly turns hostile, as some villagers evict Bandaa from his home for not being a Sikh, threatening to kill him. What follows is a common man and his family taking on arms against militants in a desperate fight to hold on to their home. Inspired by true events, the trailer plays with the emotional feeling of a home, and the vulnerability brought upon losing its security. Releasing on October 25, this promises to be a very moving watch.
