Kolkata's Freedom and Awakening exhibition rolls out second phase
The exhibition at Alipore Museum, organised by KCC, will be open for the public from October 7

Freedom and
Awakening, an exhibition organised by Kolkata Centre for Creativity in
collaboration with the Government of West Bengal and HIDCO had an immensely
successful run this year at The Alipore Museum, which is housed in the 116-year-old building
of the Alipore Central Jail.
The exhibition is now
ready for its second phase, with artworks by contemporary Bengali artists like
Chhatrapati Dutta, Smarak Roy and Debanjan Roy. The larger collection had
abstract pieces based on the ideas of freedom and awakening can be seen in TV
Santhosh and Jagannath Panda’s works, and artworks like Tom J. Vattakuzhy’s
rendition of Abanindranath Tagore’s Bharat Mata as a tribal woman.
The second
phase, which builds on the earlier exhibition, will be inaugurated on Saturday,
October 7 at 11am, in the presence of several celebrated artists, and will be
open to the public from Tuesday to Sunday at the Museum’s Cell 5. Drop by to be
enchanted by the power of art.
