Started in 1827 as the Old Opera House, Globe Cinema has provided Kolkata entertainment for almost two centuries. While it was discontinued 20 years ago with James Cameron’s Titanic being its last release, Kolkatans have a reason to rejoice. The iconic New Market theatre has received a swanky refurbishment while holding on to its retro charm, and is reopening its doors just in time for Durga Puja! Srijit Mukherji dropped an Instagram post with Dev Adhikari and SSR Cinemas CEO Satadeep Saha, recognising the beauty of the cinema hall, while announcing that it would open with his upcoming film Tekka, which also stars Swastika Mukherjee and Rukmini Maitra, with music by Anupam Roy. Rechristened SSR Globe Cinemas, you can book your tickets on BookMyShow!
