Days that look like
nights, polar bears on the prowl, word of caution, careful steps, numbing cold,
snow everywhere — reads like a documentary or thriller script, right? Except it
is reality for the inhabitants of Svalbard. An archipelago in Norway positioned
between mainland Norway and the North Pole, Svalbard is where humans coexist
with the polar bears. And Instagram user Cecilia Blomdahl’s (@sejsejlija) video captured a glimpse of what life looks like in
the winter wonderland, especially when a government helicopter is on a lookout
for polar bears. Polar Bears don’t hibernate and we bet you didn’t know that,
but what happens when a polar bear approaches human territory and what do the
authorities do? Watch Cecilia uncover the adventure.
If dare and adventure is
your style and Arctic has been on your bucket list, Cecilia’s reel will give
you just the right nudge to start planning for a trip. After all, it’s not
everyday that we land up in snow covered Norway and get a chance to see (from
afar) the polar bears, right?
My Kolkata also recommends Cecilia’s videos on “dark” winters in Svalbard, life at the
cabin area, deets on a Svalbard cruise and more, so you can have your research
done.
