Did you know Anil
Kumble’s passion for wildlife photography blossomed during one of his cricket
tours and it was a tale of love at first sight? In 1996, during a tour to South
Africa, Kumble visited one of the national parks and was captivated by the
beauty of nature. From that tour onward, Jumbo, as he is fondly called, was
always seen with a camera in hand. A glance at Anil Kumble’s Instagram page
reveals a plethora of stunning clicks, showcasing the veteran off-spinner’s
photography skills that could put professional photographers to shame. Kumble
openly expresses his love for photography, dedicating much of his off-time to
editing the pictures he captures. In 2010, he even released a book, titled Wide
Angle, featuring a collection of his best shots.
Starting with a Canon,
Kumble has now shifted to a Sony Alpha, praising its mirrorless lens and
soundless clicks. While you might not be able to bowl and take wickets like
Jumbo, you can certainly try your hand at his other passion. If you're
considering picking up a new hobby this year, why not take a shot at
photography? You’ll never know until you try.
