Few people have broken ground in Indian comedy like Vir Das.
Fewer have looked as cool while doing it. Almost exactly a year ago, the
stand-up comedian created history by bagging an Emmy Award for his special, Landing,
written in the aftermath of the Two Indias controversy. Vir marked yet
another milestone in his journey last week — becoming the first Indian to host
the International Emmy Awards! Something especially intriguing about this
though, was that rather than going for some elite designer, Vir sported an
ultra-cool outfit from Salooka, an independent label by Delhi-based designer,
Shubhangi Bajpai. The big zinger? The Call Me Bae star decided to stick
to a pair of old and trusty sneakers because he was “nervous”! Guess the stage
fright never really lets you go. Vir also confessed that he wore green
jewellery by Hanut Singh to remind him of a DPS tie! His candid demeanour is
blowing away social media, and the internet can’t wait to see what Vir does
next!
