On the surface, the two opposite ends of the planet seem to
be extremely similar — bitter cold temperatures, and a snow-covered landscape
throughout the year. However, two residents from locations close to the South
Pole and the North Pole recently conducted an experiment that proved
otherwise.
Cecilia Blomdahl, who lives in Svalbard, a Norwegian
archipelago close to the North Pole, and Matty Jordan, who lives in Antarctica
at the South Pole, recently collaborated for a unique Instagram reel. Both of
them shared outdoor views from their respective homes — Cecilia at 1pm and Matty at 1am — and the contrast
is astounding! While there is zero visibility in the dark in one area, the snow
gleams in the light in the other.
The caption highlights how Cecilia and Matty are
experiencing polar nights in the Arctic and midnight sun in Antarctic regions.
But despite being 20,000kms apart (by air), they also have the common
experience of living in an isolated environment. Reels like this do make you
wonder about the infinite secrets our beautiful planet holds!
