After Manu Bhaker and Sarabjot
Singh, Swapnil Kusale made us proud by winning the third bronze in shooting for India. The
28-year-old shooter from Kolhapur, Maharashtra became the first Indian to win a
medal in the 50m 3-position event. After criticism following the Tokyo
Olympics, the shooting squad has delivered, securing three medals in Paris —
India’s most successful Olympic campaign in the sport to date.
My Kolkata extends heartfelt congratulations to Swapnil Kusale on his
outstanding achievement and best wishes to the remaining athletes still vying
for medals. The comeback from the Indian shooting team is truly inspirational and the next generation will hopefully want to build on it in the next Olympics.
