Priyanka Chopra has worn many hats, including that of an actor, producer, author, activist and entrepreneur. This time, her association has been with Nisha Pahuja’s documentary film, To Kill a Tiger , where she joined Mindy Kaling and Dev Patel as an executive producer. But what made PeeCee and some of the world’s biggest stars back this documentary?
Set around a family in Jharkhand, the film follows the struggles of Ranjit, a farmer, who takes on a humongous fight to secure justice for his 13-year-old daughter, after she is sexually assaulted. Given the rampant culture of victim shaming in the country and the staggering rate of rape cases, Ranjit’s conviction to support his daughter makes their story stand out. Priyanka expressed her pride at joining the docu’s team, announcing that Netflix has acquired its global distribution rights.
In addition to being acclaimed at the global festival circuit, To Kill a Tiger has also been nominated for the best Documentary Feature Film at the Oscars.
