Do your friends keep asking you for music recommendations? Do you have a specially curated Spotify playlist for every mood? Trust ‘How Bad Is Your Streaming Music’, an AI-powered quiz-cum-roast by The Pudding to tear your confidence to shreds, and make you shed tears of laughter while it does so. The website clarifies from the start that it is here to judge your ‘awful’ taste in music, and asks for permission to go through your Apple Music or Spotify history. Supposedly trained on a corpus of over two million indicators of objectively good music, Pitchfork reviews, record-store recommendations, and obscure subreddits, the AI immediately begins gaslighting your music taste with eerily passive aggressive remarks about every single album, artist and song you like. The destructively hilarious summary at the end is enough to make you seek your comfort music right after, albeit with a little guilt.
