FIFA President teases the most inclusive World Cup in Canada, Mexico and USA
There are two years left before 48 teams compete for glory in the world’s biggest football tournament

On 19 July 2026, the new FIFA World Cup champion will be
crowned at New York, New Jersey. With two years to go for football’s biggest
global celebration, Fifa President Gianni Infantino took to Instagram, sharing
a glimpse of the iconic trophy at its next destination. The 2026 edition will
also be the first time that 48 teams compete in the tournament. Scheduled to be
held across the USA, Canada and Mexico, Infantino promised that the next
edition of the tournament will be the most inclusive and greatest FIFA World
Cup in history. With so many diverse voices and cultures being united by a
single sport, football is truly ‘the beautiful game’.
