After 257 races, eight wins and 32 podiums, it seems like the road has come to an end for Daniel Ricciardo’s F1 career. After the Singapore Grand Prix, where the Aussie driver finished P18, Visa Cash App RB confirmed Daniel will not be driving for them anymore — meaning the 35-year-old has probably driven in his last race. One of the favourites amongst fans for his massive smile and fun-loving attitude, Daniel is lovingly called the Honey Badger. Taking to Instagram, Daniel shared an emotional message about his journey, thanking all the teams he represented and all those who helped him along the way.
In an outpouring of love from all around the paddock, Daniel’s former bosses Christian Horner and Zak Brown shared emotional posts for the aussie. Even his former teams Red Bull, Mclaren and Alpine, as well as his former teammates Esteban Ocon and Yuki Tsunoda shared posts for the driver who some consider a legend of the sport. While his former teammates definitely miss him, Daniel’s impact on the F1 grid was clear to see when George Russell, Pierre Gasly and even seven-time world champion Lewis Hamilton wrote emotional posts for the racer.
My Kolkata extends heartfelt congratulations for the brilliant career DR3 had in Formula 1 and all the memories he has left us with including his most historic win in Monaco 2018 when he jumped into the pool in true Daniel style. We will miss Daniel and his iconic celebration on the grid and we cannot wait to see what the future holds for him.
